How to Become a High Energy Person

Have you ever noticed that the people with the highest
Energy is always the winners in life. It doesn’t matter
Whether it’s winning friends or winning baseball games, the
person with the highest energy always wins.

In sports, who wins? The player with the highest energy.
Just think of Michael Jordan. He put it all out on the court
EVERY time he played. He played every game like it was
his last.

Who wins in public speaking? Those with the highest energy;
those who can really fire up a crowd. If you’ve ever been
to an Anthony Robbins seminar, then you’ve seen this principle
in action.

Who wins in relationships? Those with the highest energy.
Think about it. Are you really going to be attracted to someone
who mopes around all the time? I don’t think so. However, I’m
sure you would be attracted to a high-energy person who loves
life and is fun and energized.

The people with the highest ENERGY are the one’s that get
noticed. If you want to win in this game of life, you MUST
become a high-energy person.

The other day I got a phone call from a lady who is
extremely high-energy. When I answered the phone her
voice was instantly full of energy and excitement. Naturally,
that energy transferred to me. Instantly, I found myself
with a smile on my face and good cheer in my voice.

Try this out yourself. Answer the phone with a smile on your
face. Call someone with excitement in your voice. I
guarantee it will make a difference.

In the book, The Emotional Energy Factor, Mira Kirshenbaum
says, “The single biggest difference between people who
get what they want and people who don’t is energy.”

One of the most underused secrets of success
is ENERGY. Enthusiasm is a state of mind that instantly
attracts others to you. It’s also contagious, and effects
all with whom it comes in contact.

Think about it. The greatest leaders in history have been
those who knew how to inspire enthusiasm in their
followers. The same is true of leaders today.

Why should someone believe in you as a person if you don’t
sound like YOU even believe in yourself? Why should someone
believe in the product you are selling, if it doesn’t sound
like you believe in the product?

The key is energy and enthusiasm. Words become a dull murmur
when they’re not backed by a burning enthusiasm.

If your words are backed by a burning enthusiasm, you are
bound to influence those with whom you come in contact,
more or less toward your way of thinking.

Mix enthusiasm with your work and the day will start to fly
by. Mix enthusiasm with your relationships and watch your
number of friends grow. Mix enthusiasm into your job and
watch as the boss begins to notice you above everyone else.
Mix enthusiasm into your workouts and watch your body
transform.

By mixing enthusiasm into all areas of your life, you will
begin to achieve the highest levels of success in all of
your endeavors.

Most primary-care doctors will tell you that fatigue and low
energy levels are one of the most common complaints they
hear in a day.

Here are 6 tips that will help you increase your energy
every day.

1. Drink more water.

Around 50% of Americans walk around dehydrated. (find
statistic) Being dehydrated makes you tired and irritable.
Remember, just because your not thirst does not mean that
you don’t need to drink water. If you feel thirst, then
it’s too late. You’re already dehydrated.

2. Exercise!

Setting in a chair all day can make you feel tired and
stiff. Take a walk on your lunch break. Hit the gym in the
afternoon or go for an early morning run to start your day
off right.

Make exercise a daily habit and watch your energy levels
increase.

3. Break out of your routine.

Is your life on rerun? Having the same old routine every day
can quickly suck the energy out of you. Don’t allow
yourself to get stuck in a daily routine. Do something new
on a regular basis, whether it be spending time with a
friend or starting a new hobby.

Trying new things will help you re-energize yourself.

4. Get plenty of sleep.

Over the past 100 years, sleep time has steadily fallen. In
1910, the average person slept 9.0 hours a night. By 1975,
the total had fallen to 7.5 hours. The 2002 Sleep in America
poll, conducted by the NSF, indicates that the average
American adult now only sleeps 6.9 hours a night.

Sleep deprivation is one of the most common causes of low
energy and fatigue. Even an extra 30 minutes can make a huge
difference in your energy levels during the day.

5. Eat breakfast.

There are lots of people who skip breakfast, but they are
killing their energy because of it. To get your metabolism
going in the morning, you need to eat a healthy breakfast.

Eating a good breakfast has been shown to increase your
energy levels and improve memory, concentration, and
attention.

6. Cut down on refined carbohydrates.

Bread, rice, potatoes and pasta can quickly make you feel
sluggish and tired. Of course, you don’t have to cut them
out completely, just be sure to focus more on fruits and
vegetables.

Stick to these tips for an entire week and you’re sure to
see a difference in how you feel.

How to Think Like a Genius

How to Think Like a Genius???

At this very moment, you are holding unbound potential. You
Hold within your possession the most powerful learning and
Creative problem-solving system known to man, far superior
To any supercomputer ever invented. It is your brain.

There are 100 billion neurons in your 3-pound brain.

By its very design, the human brain stores vast potential
For memory, learning, and creativity. However, your capacity
For learning and achievement must be unlocked. Although
Everyone holds this incredible power, the brain does not
Give of its’ powers away freely.

Geniuses of this world have successfully tapped into this
Unlimited power, including Einstein, Galileo, Newton, and
Mozart.

Within the rest of this article, we will turn to these same
Revolutionary minds in order to unlock the genius that is
Hiding in the tapestry of our own minds.

God didn’t give us formal instruction manuals for our brain.
Therefore, we must explore the power of thought on our own.
Let this article be your guide.

1. The first step is to expand your consciousness as well as
Your perspectives.

The genius mind will look at a problem from many different
Perspectives. They are literally able to place themselves
Completely in someone else’s shoes in order to experience a
New way of looking at things. By doing this, they expand
Their knowledge and consciousness of the world around them.

Look at problems from a variety of different perspectives.
Most people only rely on their own perspective, and
Therefore always have a very narrow view of the world.

Leonardo ad Vinci believed that, to gain knowledge about the
Form of a problem, you must begin by learning how to
Restructure it in many different ways. He believed that the
First way you look at a problem is entirely too biased. You
Are only seeing the problem from one perspective: yours.

You can find new solutions to the problem by looking at it
From a variety of different perspectives. According to
Einstein, “You cannot solve a problem with the same type of
Thinking that is creating it.”

Einstein insisted that the secret of his genius was his
Ability to look at problems in a childlike, imaginative
Way.

To expand his view of the world, Einstein developed a
Mastermind group that he called the Olympiad. This group
Held intensive discussions on topics ranging from
Mathematics and physics to philosophy and literature.

These forums provided the stimulus needed for higher-level
Thinking and were often combine with camping trips involving
Hiking, swimming, and a good dose of humor.

The genius lives at a high level of consciousness about the
World around them. They are receptive to new ideas, which
Provide them with even greater opportunity. The person who
clings to their comfort zone is living in a low level of
Consciousness. Their experiences each day are often a
Repetition of the previous day.

You reach a higher level of consciousness when you
Reach new levels of understanding, experience a major
growth experience, or embrace new ways of thinking.

When you were eight years old, you had a different view of
The world than you do today. This is because you are now
living in a higher consciousness/awareness of the world
Around you. You must constantly seek to expand your
Awareness if you want to grow.

Your consciousness determines how you experience life.

To expand your awareness, you must consistently seek
opportunities for growth. Look for new relationships. Expand
Your knowledge. Step out of your comfort zone. Experience
Life to the fullest.

2. Once you have begun seeking your greatest aims in life,
you must also persist…

The most successful people in life are the ones who are the
most persistent. Interestingly, enough the most successful
people in life are also the ones who have experienced the
most failure.

The rest are too afraid to try and therefore never
experience success or failure.

In fact, I would argue that failure is the quickest path to
success. The greatest success is always preceded by a long
list of failures.

Think of Thomas Edison, who after 10,000 attempts at
creating the electric lightbulb, said, “I have not failed.
I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.”

Failure is a prerequisite for success; embrace it as a
learning experience that brings you one step closer to your
ultimate goal.

To truly be great, you must not be afraid of failing.

The leaders in life don’t fear failure. Like most, you
probably learned in elementary school about the
accomplishments of Christopher Columbus. However, you
probably don’t know that the likely result of his journey
was humiliation, financial ruin, or even death. He was
making a journey, which most people believed would cause him
to fall off the edge of the Earth.

All previous efforts to cross the Atlantic had been made by
sailors who clung to the European coast in order to ensure a
means of return. Columbus, however, sailed perpendicular to
the shoreline. He was venturing into the unknown, without
knowing what, if anything, lay ahead.

In the end, it turned out that Columbus, was, in fact, a
visionary genius.

Even after six weeks at sea with no sight of land, he
maintained unwavering belief in his goal. Most people would
have given up at this point, but Columbus kept going. This
was one of the most important factors in determining his
success.

Most of what people refer to as failure is simply a lack of
persistence.

How many times do we hug the coastline in our own lives,
latching onto the familiar? Growth is always preceded by
change. For us to improve and grow, we must embrace change
and constantly step out of our old familiar comfort zones.
When we do, we will find that we begin to live a life full
of adventure and increased opportunity.

3. The third step to thinking like a genius is to Visualize!

Albert Einstein, Leonardo da Vinci, Walt Disney, Nikola
Tesla, and even Mozart all ascribed their creative genius to
their ability to visualize.

Einstein said that all of his most important and productive
thinking was done by “combinatory play” with “images” in his
mind. Einstein used images, visual patterns and associations
to discover more about the world around him.

Einstein believed that the spirit of learning and creative
thought were lost in strict rote learning. Instead, he
turned to his own imagination and visualization.

Visualization is an incredibly powerful tool in solving
problems. Often times much more powerful that simply using
words or numbers.

Visual thinking is done in the right side of the brain,
presenting new problem solving and big-picture thinking.
Visualization goes hand in hand with our next genius
principle…

4. Imagination

Einstein was well acquainted with the childlike sense of
play, possibility, and humor. His ability to remain in a
childlike state of wonder and curiosity is the essence of
his genius.

Dr. Jacques Hadmard spent much of his life studying the
thought processes of great scientists and mathematicians. He
found that their thinking process was characterized not by
words or standard mathematical symbols, but instead by
visual imagery.

The same was true for Einstein, who said, “The words of the
language, as they are written or spoken, do not seem to play
any role in my mechanisms of thought.”

He also wrote that his thought processes instead “rely, more
or less, on clear images of a visual and some of a muscular
type.”

These few sentences give us a rare insight into one of the
greatest minds. Einstein teaches us the importance of
thinking visually.

Dr. Marian Diamond and her colleagues at the University of
California at Berkeley published a paper entitled “On the
Brain of a Scientist: Albert Einstein.” Their research
showed that Einstein’s brain contained 400 percent more
“glial” cells per neuron than average. They also found that
his brain was especially well developed in the area of the
brain used for association.

However, we will never know whether Einstein’s brain was
highly developed as a result of his thought processes and
stimulating environment or from an extraordinary
neuro-anatomical gift?

Much of our brainpower is due to the interconnection between
brain cells. We know now that these interconnections - glial
cells, dendrites, axons, and synapses - can continue to
increase in number throughout the course of an individual’s
life.

Dr. Diamond’s research suggests that combinatory play and a
stimulus-rich environment are two of the keys to increasing
the minds to make these internal connections within the mind
from which genius is born.

Much of Einstein’s creativity was found in his ability to
make unfamiliar and unexpected relationships.

Einstein coined the term, “combinatory play”. Although it
had always existed, Einstein used this powerful way of
thinking in his daily thought processes.

According to Einstein, combinatory play is sifting through
data, perceptions, and materials to come up with
combinations that are new and useful.

Einstein himself believed that you could stimulate ingenious
thought by allowing the imagination to run freely, forming
associations at will.

Einstein also performed what’s referred to as thought
experiments.

As a young man, Einstein imagined himself running alongside
a beam of light. He then asked himself what it would look
like. This was one of his first thought experiments.

A thought experiment is carried out in the mind. It requires
you to ask yourself a question. You then visualize a
situation and perform some kind of experimental action and
see what happens. These types of thought experiments provide
a method for understanding nature without performing a
direct experiment on it.

Try this out in your own life by asking yourself the
following questions:

What would happen if we found a way to use 100% of our brain potential?
What our the possible solutions to world hunger?
How would Albert Einstein, Leonardo da Vinci, or Newton approach this problem?
What if I could hold infinity in the palm of my hand? (This has been a popular thought
question among poets as well as quantum physicists.)

5. The next key, and one of the most important elements, to
genius thinking is that of curiosity: the courage to ask
questions.

Why do kids ask so many questions? They are naturally
curious about the world around them. They discover the world
through questioning others as well as themselves. In the
process, they are creating neuro-associations that will
guide their futures.

As we grow older, however, we become passive to the world
around us. We stop asking questions, lose our much of our
curiosity, and the learning comes to a screeching halt.

Without questions, we cannot grow.

Albert Einstein once said,

“The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity
has its own reason for existing. One cannot help but be in
awe when he contemplates the mysteries of eternity, of life,
of the marvelous structure of reality. It is enough if one
tries merely to comprehend a little of the mystery every
day. Never lose a holy curiosity.”

Socrates, Aristotle and Plato were some of the first great
minds to develop the importance of questions. The entire
Socratic method, which is a way of teaching that dates back
to the Ancient Greeks, is based upon the teacher asking
nothing but questions. These questions direct the students’
focus, enabling them to discover their own answers to life’s
questions.

Successful people are simply those who have asked better
questions. Instead of asking, “How will I ever get out of
debt?” They asked themselves, “How can I learn from this
experience?”

When computers were still taking up entire rooms, Bill Gates
asked himself, “How can I get a computer in every
household?”

When the automobile first emerged on the scene, hundreds of
people started to build them, but Henry Ford asked, “How can
I mass-produce them?”

As a young boy, Albert Einstein asked himself, “”What would
it be like to run beside a light beam at the speed of
light?”

Plato believed that skilled questions could lead not only to
the discovery of geometry, science, and philosophy, but also
to the realization of virtue, justice, beauty and truth.

Start to ask yourself and others empowering questions.
Develop an unbound curiosity. Practice wonder.

6. You become what you think about.

Pay close attention now as we come upon the sixth principle
that leads to genius. It is the Law of Attraction, which
says you become what you think about.

The Law of Attraction says that what you think about, you
bring about. Therefore, you become what you think about
most. In addition, you also attract what you think about
most.

In other words, Thoughts Become Things.

Your life is a physical manifestation of the thoughts that
go on in your head.

Michael Jordan focused on perfecting every aspect of his
game. This definite desire turned his weaknesses into
strengths and made him one of the greatest leaders in
basketball.

Wrigley concentrated his mind on the production and sale of
a five-cent package of chewing gum and turned this one idea
in to millions of dollars.

Edwin C. Barnes had a burning desire to go into business
with Thomas Edison. He focused himself completely on this
desire until it finally came to fruiting and he retired,
while still a young man, with more money than he needs.

Lincoln concentrated his mind on freeing the slaves and
became our greatest American President while doing it.
Gillette concentrated on a safety razor, gave the entire
world a “close shave” and made himself a multimillionaire.

George Eastman concentrated on the Kodak and made the idea
yield him a fortune while bringing much pleasure to
millions of people.

The Wright Brothers concentrated on the airplane and
mastered the air.

Bill Gates concentrated on the personal computer, now a PC
is found in nearly every home to help educate, entertain and
enrich people’s lives.

All of these people were well adept in the Law of
Attraction.

There is evidence that the law of attraction was also used
by Einstein, Beethoven, and even Jesus. This same power is
available to you. In fact, you are experiencing the Law of
Attraction at this very moment whether you know it or not.
This is because the law of attraction is always at work.
Your life experience is in line with the thoughts that
reside in your mind.

You create your own reality. What you think about, you bring
about. What you emotionalize in thought, you bring about in
reality.

Recent research is in support of this law. For example,
research on optimism has shown that optimists enjoy better
health, greater happiness, more success in life, and a
longer life. The optimist focuses on success and minimizes
their failures.

Pessimists, on the other hand, experience far more disease,
depression, and a shorter life span.

What you focus on with thought and feeling is what you
attract into your life.

The genius exercises this same law in their everyday life.
The genius expects success and puts complete faith in their
goal. They expect more out of life and therefore, they
receive it.

You can do the same. Expect success and persist until you
have found it.

7. The last and final step in thinking like a genius is to
Have Fun!

No person has achieved massive success by doing what they
hate. Pablo Picasso once said, “When I work I relax; doing
nothing or entertaining visitors makes me tired.”

In addition, Dale Carnegie said, “People rarely succeed
unless they have fun in what they are doing.”

The most successful people in life find work that inspires
and excites them.

I’ll leave you with a fitting poem Christain D. Larson:

When you work simply for yourself or for your own personal
gain your mind will seldom rise above the limitations of
the undeveloped personal life;

but when you are inspired by some great purpose, some
extraordinary project, all your thoughts break bounds; your
mind transcends limitations; your consciousness expands in
every direction;

and you find yourself in a new world, a great world, a
wonderful world; dormant powers, faculties and talents
become alive,

and you discover yourself to be a larger man by far than you
ever dreamed yourself to be.”

Ways to Hack Your Brain

Did you know that people compete every year to win the U.S. Memory Championship? To attain the rank of grandmaster of memory, you must be able to memorize 1,000 digits in under an hour, the exact order of 10 shuffled decks of playing cards in under an hour, and one shuffled deck in less than two minutes. To this day, there are only 36 grand masters of memory in the world. And while you may not be interested in memorizing digits and playing cards, I’m sure all of us would like to increase our mental brain power. Whether you want to quickly memorize the periodic table, learn a new language, recite the names of each president forwards and backwards, or cut down on your studying time, the following memory techniques will help you do it. The brain wasn’t designed to remember abstract symbols like numbers and miscellaneous facts. However, if you can translate those symbols into vivid visual images and associations, even the dullest list of dates can become as memorable as your own telephone number. The key is to develop a system that allows for quick encoding and easy recall. We’ll start with the basic techniques and then move on tithe more advanced ones. Although the more advanced techniques do take a bit more practice, they also deliver bigger benefits, so don’t write them off too quickly. With practice, you can become a memory master. 1. Acronyms One of the most common memory techniques is the use of acronyms. This technique uses an easily remembered word whose first letters are associated with the list of items that need to be remembered. Pilots use these extensively to run-through essential checklists during flight time. An example would be: ROY G. BIV: the colors of the visible spectrum Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet Keep in mind that associations which are exaggerated, absurd, humorous, and involve all five senses are much easier tore member than normal ones. We remember emotionally charged events much better than boring ones. 2. Chunking Chunking is one of the oldest memory techniques. Using this method, the items to be memorized are divided into small chunks or groups. Chunking is especially helpful for memorizing telephone numbers; ID numbers, etc. For example, if you want to memorize the number 411645754, then split it up into small groups: 411, 645, and 754. You canteen memorize each group by rote. By dividing the larger number into smaller subsets, it will be much easier to commit the number to memory. When using this technique, it is also helpful to make connections and associations among the different chunks and numbers. For example, if you want to memorize a grocery list, you should group each of the items into related categories. So, one chunk or group might be composed of oranges, apples, and pears, while another chunk is made up of vegetables. 3. Acrostic An acrostic is a memory technique that uses a made up sentence or poem with a first letter cue. The first letter of each word is a cue to an idea you need to remember. One example is: Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally (PEMDAS). This acrostic represents the sequence in solving revaluating math equations. Parenthesis, Exponents, Multiplication, Division, Addition, Subtraction 4. The Method of Loci the Method of Loci is a memory technique that dates back to ancient Greek times when orators, philosophers, and others had to rely on memory for memorizing speeches and knowledge in general. This was essential seeing that the printed book wouldn’t come around until approximately two thousand years later. Therefore, they invented the Method of Loci. This memory technique involves associating information you want tore member with specific locations, also known as loci. These locations can be points along a journey or objects in room. The ancient Greeks not only created rooms, but entire palaces and cities to remember lots of information. According to Wikipedia, “In ancient advice, the loci were physical locations, usually in a familiar large public building, such as a marketer a church. To utilize the method, one walked through the building several times, viewing distinct places within it, in the same order each time. After a few repetitions of this, one should be able to remember and visualize each of the places in order reliably. To memorize a speech, one breaks it up into pieces, each of which is symbolized by vivid imagined objects or symbols. In the mind’s eye, one then places each of these images into the loci. They can then be recalled in order by imagining that one is walking through the building again, visiting each of the loci in order, and viewing each of the images that were placed in the loci, thereby recalling each piece of the speech in order.” To create your own mental journey, you must first select the path you wish to use. Be sure to choose a location that haste same number of locations as the number of chunks in the information you wish to memorize. Take a mental journey through the selected path. You should be able to recall the specific order of the locations without trouble. Now it’s time to associate this new information with each location along your chosen path. If you want to memorize the presidents, then you might take mental journey through your school. In the first room, you could have George Washington in an astronaut suit and cutting firewood. In the second room you could have John Adams break dancing in front of the classroom. And on and on until you have completed all43 presidents. Remember, emotion and exaggerated associations are the key to memory. 5. The Image-Name Technique Here’s an excellent (but simple) memory technique for remembering names. All you have to do is make up a relationship between the name and the physical characteristics of the person’s name you are trying to remember. For example, if you were trying to remember a person by the name of Tom, you might associate their name with the person you went to prom with who was also named Tom. In this instance, you are making the connection between Tom and prom (rhyming) and between someone you previously knew from high school. If you want to remember the name Sally, you might imagine them in a ballet. This association will help you remember their name because of the visual imagery and the connection between the “closely related” words that almost rhyme: Sally and ballet. By making connections, you are instantly more likely tore member their name the next time you see them. 6. Mind mapping one of the best ways to learn new things is to relate what you want to learn with something you already know. This is known as association and it is the mental glue that drives your brain. Associations are also one of the best ways to improve your memory. To maximize our mental powers, we must constantly look for associations that connect new ideas and knowledge with old ideas and concepts that we are already familiar with. Association is the primary method that memory champions use to win international memory competitions. If you want to enhance your mental abilities, then association is one skill that you will definitely want to practice. Mind mapping is one of the best ways to practice association. According to Wikipedia, mind mapping: “is a diagram used to represent words, ideas, tasks or other items linked to and arranged radically around a central key word or idea.” Mind maps have been used for centuries to aid in learning, brainstorming, memory, and problem solving. To start creating your own mind map, simply get out a piece of paper, multiple colored pens, and begin drawing a handwritten mind map that connects a variety of ideas and concepts to a central key word or idea. The simple act of using your hand for thought can really get the brain going. Click here for a complete guide to creating mind maps. 7. Write an Article One of the best ways to learn a topic is to start writing about it yourself. This forces you to clarify your thoughts and dig a bit deeper into the topic at hand. By expressing the core ideas in your own words, you will gain a much deeper understanding of the topic. Explaining a topic to others will help you to “really” understand the matter because teaching something to others requires a completely different level of insight. Think about it. If you had to teach a class, wouldn’t you make sure that you understood the material even better than the students? Take on the role of an instructor and you will find yourself gaining a much deeper understanding of the topics you study. 8. Peg words Peg words are extremely powerful, but it does take some time to learn how to use them. However, once you master this technique, you can probably cut your studying time in half. The use of pegs goes all the way back to the seventeenth century and Henry Heron. He came up with a list of ten objects that physically resembled the number itself. For example, the number 1 was represented by a candle. Number 8 was a pair of spectacles. Peg words essentially become “hangers” or pegs on which you can hang different items that you want to remember. This system works by pre-memorizing a list of words that are easy to associate with the numbers they represent. To begin, you can connect simple objects with the numbers 1-20.Those objects form the “pegs” of the system. Once you have created a list of words for each number, you can then begin using your peg list to quickly memorize alit of objects. For example, let’s say you want to memorize a grocery list of 10 items. To begin, you would need to make a peg list forth numbers 1-10. Here’s an example: 1- pencil2- shoe3- phone4- door5- book6- basketball7- hat8- radio9- car10- barn Now, you must associate the groceries on your list with each of your peg words. Remember that your associations must be exaggerated and filled with emotion in order to make them easy to remember. Here are some examples of how you could associate the grocery list with each of the peg words: 1- tomatoes - Visualize an army of pencils attacking a field of overgrown tomatoes.2- grapes - Visualize your favorite TV character stomping through a big barrel of grapes with bright white shoes.3 - cereal - Visualize opening your phone and having your favorite cereal start shooting out of the mouth piece. Get the idea? Once you have created your list of peg words, you can use them over and over again to memorize a variety of different lists. You could use the peg system to memorize the Presidents of the United States, the periodic table, or the state capitals. When creating your peg words, it’s best to use tangible things or objects for each peg word because objects are easier to associate other items to. Also, make sure that you don’t use similar peg words for different numbers. For reference, always keep a full list of the peg words close by. In fact, putting this list in your wallet or purse is one of the best places. This way, you will always have access to the peg system. At first, you may find it difficult to come up with the creative, illogical, and exaggerated associations that help you remember more. It comes with practice. However, once you have mastered the technique of association, you will find that you have also increased your creativity and problem solving skills at the same time. The key to creating good associations is thinking like a child again. Let your mind wander past the limitations created out of what we now know “adulthood”. 9. Visualization Visualization is an extremely powerful memory technique. However, visualization doesn’t just improve memory. It canals help reduce stress, improve sports performance, and increase your motivation. Create descriptive pictures of your possible future and move yourself towards it. Visualize your next sports event or public speech to improve your performance. When studying history, play out visual renditions in your mind of historical events that you want to remember. Imagine the smells, sights, and sounds of Gettysburg or the excitement and unity created by Martin Luther King’s famous “I Have dream” speech. By visualizing history with mental replays, you are much more likely to remember them in detail. 10. Flashcards When it comes to rote memorization, flash cards are my favorite memorization tool. Flashcards can help you learn new subjects quickly and efficiently. They are especially useful for learning new vocabulary or even a new language. One of the biggest benefits of flashcards is their portable nature. They allow you to study anywhere at any time. It doesn’t matter whether you’re on the bus, stuck in traffic, or in the doctor’s office. You can always whip outpour flashcards for a quick 2 to 3 minute study session. To create effective flashcards, dedicate one point to each card. For example, you could put a vocabulary word on onside and the definition on the other side. This way, you can repeatedly quiz yourself until you have mastered all of the concepts. Considering that memory is such a fundamental skill, it’s surprising that schools don’t teach us more about how tolerant and use our memory to its optimum potential. Our mind, just like the rest of our body, needs continuous exercise and training. Those who think they have a poor memory actually just have an untrained memory. Just reading this article won’t improve your memory. A good memory comes from practice. Find something new and exciting to learn. Start testing out these methods as soon as possible. You could learn how to fly, learn a new language, photography, or even investing. When you have mastered these memory techniques, the world’s knowledge is yours to discover.

Increase Your Brain Power

For your brain to work at peak levels, it must have adequate
supplies of glucose, oxygen, water, and essential nutrients.
Because your brain is mostly composed of fat, you also need
the proper amounts of fatty acids in your diet that come
from foods like fish and cod liver oil.

Just like any other human cell, the neurons in your brain
need water, energy, and oxygen. The lack of any of these 3
basic materials significantly decreases your ability to
learn.

Your brain requires proper energy to keep the wheels
turning. Glucose is one of the essential nutrients required
for an optimum learning state. Your body acquires glucose
mainly from the carbohydrates in the foods we eat.

So, how do you keep up good levels of blood glucose? Eat
plenty of complex carbohydrates such as grains, bread,
vegetables, and pasta. This does NOT include snack bars,
fruit juice, and yogurt, which are all simple carbohydrates.

The difference in simple carbohydrates and complex
carbohydrates is that simple carbohydrates are digested
quickly and often contain refined sugars.

Complex carbohydrates are digested much slower and are
usually packed with fiber, vitamins, and minerals.

Some good brain foods include:
avocados
bananas
broccoli
brown rice
cantaloupe
chicken
eggs
flaxseed oil
legumes
oatmeal
oranges
peanut butter
peas
romaine lettuce
salmon
spinach

… and omega 3 fatty acids which can be found in
cod liver oil and krill oil.

In fact, if you want to keep your brain working at top
performance, you should avoid the large amounts of sugar
that are often found in soft drinks, cakes, chocolate and
other refined foods.

Your brain also requires plenty of oxygen for optimum learning.
Although your brain is only around 3% of your body mass, it can
consume more than 20% of your body’s oxygen intake. This
consumption rate increases during mental activities such as
learning.

To keep the oxygen flowing for ideal learning, you need good
blood efficiency, good lung efficiency, good pulse rate and
strength, and good breathing.

One of the keys to good blood efficiency is iron. Be sure to
get plenty of iron int your diet, which can be obtained
through wholegrain cereals, green leafy vegetables, meat,
and breads.

To improve your lung power, center your diet around fruits,
vegetables, and grains. These foods will provide the
antioxidants needed for strong lungs. Aerobic fitness is
another key factor in improving your lung power. Make sure
that you are exercising for at least 30 minutes per day.

Recent research shows that cognitive function is improved
immediately after just ten minutes of aerobic exercise.

For optimum learning, you also need good pulse rate and
strength, which increases the blood flow into the brain.

When studying, be sure to take short breaks and do some
light exercise. Better yet, go for a walk while learning new
material.

Focus on good breathing. Breathe deep and avoid shallow
breathing. This will improve your lung efficiency. This one
tip will not only improve your learning, but also your
everyday energy levels.

Sit up Straight. Posture affects your thinking process. Sit
up straight, keeping your mouth closed and looking forward.

Learn a new language. Learning a new language gives you new
ways to think and expands your perspectives. In fact, there
are concepts and expressions in each language that don’t
exist in others.

You also gain a better understanding through language. Think
about it. Who understands the concept of snow better;
someone with two or three words for it (snow, sleet, etc.);
or an Eskimo with 23 words for it?

Best of all, most people experience a general improvement in
memory from studying a language. So, why not avoid the
age-related decline in memory by taking up a new language.

Sleep better. We all need approximately 6-8 hours of sleep.
Sleep has a major impact on your learning performance. Sleep
affects memory and learning both before and after a lesson.

The brain is usually more alert and creative earlier in the
morning after a good night’s sleep, making it the best
time of day for brain work.

A healthy and balanced diet is one of the most important
keys for optimized learning and memory performance. There are
a number of supplements being sold today that claim to
improve your focus and brain power. Unfortunately, many of
them are ineffective.

However, there are a number of different herbs and
supplements that do increase your mental performance. Here
are the ones that have been proven effective through research.

Gingko Bilboa: Need a quick brain boost? The leaves of this
tree have proven to increase blood flow to the brain. This
extract improves memory and cognitive abilities in
individuals eighteen to forty years old.

Vitamin b1, b3, and b6 all play a significant role in
learning.

Brahmi also has been shown to improve memory and learning
performance. Studies suggest that Brahmi helps you to retain
newly learned information, improves visual information
processing, learning rate and memory consolidation.

However, keep in mind that best effects appear after twelve
weeks of daily use.

If you want to see almost immediate improvement in your
brain power, then I suggest that you focus on eating a
nutritious, well-balanced diet combined with a healthy
exercise program. These two things alone can greatly
improve your cognitive abilities.

Happy Learning!
